There’s a new manager in the office, and they’re working for free.

Last April, Facebook announced its newest tool: Business Manager. Its main purpose is to help businesses and agencies manage their Facebook Pages, ad accounts and apps in one organized place. Up until recently, businesses were allowed to choose if they wanted to utilize the tool or stick with their own way of doing things. However, for some businesses, they no longer have a choice and must migrate their pages to the Business Manager platform this month.

Who Should Use It?

Only a select few Facebook users have to use it so far. If you received an email from Facebook, hopefully you’ve begun the migration process. Here’s what Facebook has to say:

You may have seen a notice that we recommend you upgrade to using Business Manager. If you are currently signing in to access your company’s ad accounts and Pages with an email address and password that are not linked to a Facebook profile (called a shared login, gray account, or business account), follow these steps to upgrade your account. After you transition a shared login, you will no longer be able to use that login to access your business accounts. Instead, sign in with the email address and password for your personal Facebook profile.”

If you haven’t received a notice from Facebook in your email, but fit in any of the criteria below, we suggest you also move to the Business Manager platform. It may only be a matter of time before it is a mandatory move for everyone.

Switch to Business Manager if you:

  • Manage your company’s presence on Facebook
  • Have multiple ad accounts
  • Have more than three Pages
  • Have multiple people who work on your Facebook presence
  • Work with an agency

What Does It Do?

It keeps track of all of your business pages and ad accounts in one dashboard, while easily watching the ad spend for each page.

Have a few employees contributing to your page? Assign them to pages with specific roles. All you need is their email and they will be added using their personal Facebook, (don’t worry, no employers will be able to see personal Facebook activity.) This also means no more shared passwords and logins – everyone just signs in through their personal accounts.

It also keeps track of who has access to each of your pages, and what roles they have. You will also be able to give agencies access to your page for advertising or posting purposes.

These few examples just skim the surface of what Business Manager has to offer. Start 2015 with more control and organization over your Facebook presence – there’s a good chance that this Business Manager might end up being more productive than the one that’s down the hall!
