Think about what makes your community unique. Was it that awesome cook-off last week? How about the hometown marathon last month. Or maybe it’s the upcoming parade and festival that always takes the town by storm.

The most efficient way to spread the word and get others involved is online – and this works the same for your business! Whether you are seeking more participation in your company’s event, or wanting to share its success, this blog post can help you.

Here at PCG, we want you to make the most out of your community or charity event. Our four helpful tricks will aid in spreading the word for a good cause.

Spread the Word Community Graphic

Share Photos on Social Media Outlets

This may be the obvious route, but it is super effective. Take photos at the event and socially share them on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and any other active social media accounts you may have. You can even check-in to the event on Facebook to let friends and family know that it’s going on in real-time. Sharing photos allows others to see the great time you are having with your community and can encourage them to get involved!

Ask for Links from the Event

Another tip that we would suggest is getting links from the event’s site to your own. For example, pretend you are the owner of a local specialty cupcake shop and your community is having a bake-off that you participate in. It would be a great opportunity for the local news site or town forum to name participants and have a link back to your cupcake shop’s website! This generates free brand awareness and advertising for your company to locals and potential customers. It also generates more back links from reputable sites – which Google loves to see!

Blog About It

The third way to make the most out of a community event is to blog about it. Blogging not only fuels your company’s online presence, but it promotes the community or charity event, as well. There are many times where people participate in events that others never knew existed. By exposing the event and sharing the experience and photos, it can encourage others to join in for the next one.

Create and Distrubute a Press Release

Our last way to make the most out of a community event is to write a press release and distribute it on a reputable site such as prnewswire.com or prlog.com. The only disadvantage to this is that you may have to pay a small fee to publish on these sites. However, the amount of impressions your release receives can be worth it!

It’s a great part of your marketing strategy to have your community events circulating around the web. Now that you have a few starters on how to make the most out of your events, we’d love to hear your tactics and success stories!
