We spend most of our time in the workplace and with our co-workers, and although work may not be the first place that comes to mind in terms of having fun, planning special events can make it easier to get up and head to the office on Monday morning.

There are many reasons why events and perks are s0 beneficial to company culture. At PCG, we try to hold at least one event each month for our hard-working team. Here are some of PCG’s most valuable motives for planning these activities:

1. Promotes Team Building

Planning a company-wide event promotes team building and overall office morale. Employees can come together to brainstorm ideas, organize events, and encourage participation.

2. Rewards Hard Work

When employees are rewarded for their hard work, it’s more likely they will continue to work hard, if not harder. Planning a happy hour at a local hot spot, or even a company BBQ or a game day at the office, is a simple way to show employees their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed.

3. Encourages Employee Interaction

Having something as simple as a catered lunch can allow employees to interact with members from different teams that they may not have the chance to work with on a daily basis. This allows employees to gather in one central place and get to know each other on a more personal level.

4. Recharges the Brain

By planning company events, it allows employees to step away from their desk and computer screens for a bit and take a break. We all know that “2:30 feeling” when we hit a mental road block, but having staff events every so often, allows us to stimulate our brain in a different way, and finish the day strong.

5. Improves Work Ethic

In the summer, there comes a point where we just need a break. By planning fun, seasonal company events or implementing perks like Summer Fridays for employees, it can make all the difference in the world. These special privileges can motivate employees to give 110% during the work week for a company that allows them to take full advantage of the summer months while they last (especially here at the Jersey Shore!)

PCG - Fun Committee

At PCG, we have a dedicated team known as ‘The Fun Committee” (pictured above) who is responsible for planning monthly activities for the entire staff. We encourage all companies, big and small, to start planning their own company events to show appreciation for employees and boost office morale!
